Louisiana State Superintendent Cade Brumley announced that the state is utilizing a flexible pool of federal funds, allowing for up to 3% allocation for state priorities. This year, approximately half will be dedicated to artificial intelligence (AI) platforms and tutoring. Brumley described this initiative as a strategy for a “post-ESSER world,” following the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funds aimed at addressing pandemic-related educational challenges. With around $4 billion received to support school operations and combat learning loss, funding is now more restricted. Major beneficiaries include larger districts, such as Jefferson Parish, allocated roughly $887,983, with significant amounts earmarked for tutoring and AI. Orleans Parish schools will receive about $215,163. Additionally, districts in rural Louisiana also benefit from these grants. This funding aims to enhance educational outcomes through targeted AI and tutoring initiatives, reflecting a commitment to advancing Louisiana’s academic recovery.
