LukeW | Addressing Common Challenges in AI Products

admin

Almost every software sector has implemented AI features, mostly through simplified approaches like adding chat panels. However, this has led to common issues regarding user interaction.

Capability Awareness: Users often lack understanding of AI capabilities due to vague affordances. This is similar to the challenges faced by previous "invisible" interfaces. Users are uncertain about effective ways to prompt AI systems, as their varied limitations mean that different phrasing can yield disparate results.

Context Awareness: Understanding how an AI arrives at its answers is equally crucial. Users often question the reliability of AI outputs, whether they come from training data, session history, or other tools, given that not all context is always available.

Walls of Text: Despite being effective for communication, text is not the best medium. Long text outputs in linear formats make it difficult for users to extract information; many now prefer visuals or structured data formats.

Overall, these are just some prevalent issues in the evolving landscape of AI products.
