Lunit, a South Korean AI company, has partnered with Microsoft to integrate its AI-powered cancer diagnostics into clinical practice. This collaboration aims to enhance the customization of AI models through Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, enabling users to leverage site-specific clinical data. Addressing cross-site variability in model performance, Lunit’s approach supports the adoption of AI diagnostics in real-world settings. Additionally, Lunit plans to utilize Microsoft’s agentic AI frameworks to create workflow automation tools, streamlining clinical decision-making and improving operational efficiency. Lunit’s notable AI tools include the SCOPE HER2 algorithm for evaluating HER2 biomarkers in metastatic colorectal cancer and INSIGHT DBT for detecting breast cancer in mammograms. According to Lunit CEO Brandon Suh, this partnership will expand access to their innovative tools in the U.S. and beyond. The AI healthcare market is projected to reach $19 billion by 2027, with radiology leading the way in applying AI for improved efficiencies.
