Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced plans to combat illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya immigration in Mumbai. In collaboration with Bombay IIT, an AI-driven application will be developed to identify immigrants, aiming for a 100% detection and deportation rate within six months. This initiative was unveiled during the Mahayuti manifesto launch ahead of the Mumbai civic elections, where Fadnavis emphasized developmental agendas and criticized former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Key promises include making Mumbai slum-free, launching 10,000 buses, and providing interest-free loans of Rs 5 lakh for women. The Mahayuti also pledged housing for slum-dwellers and improving BMC schools to focus on skill development and Marathi language courses. Fadnavis reassured that he would address the needs of Marathis in Mumbai, assuring them their homes will be preserved. Additionally, he praised the health department for expanding bed capacity in hospitals.
