Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly dedicated months to compiling a list of the world’s top AI engineers and researchers to enhance Meta’s AI talent pool. To attract these recruits, he is offering substantial compensation packages, potentially reaching up to $100 million. This endeavor is part of Meta’s strategy to compete with major corporations like OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft, which have heavily invested in AI development. Despite delays in launching Meta’s flagship AI model, Behemoth, the company recently acquired a $14 billion stake in Scale AI and appointed its founder, Alexandr Wang, to lead a new “superintelligence team.” Zuckerberg’s recruiting tactics involve personal outreach and forming a dedicated WhatsApp group for discussions on prospective hires. However, his aggressive approach has drawn criticism, notably from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who expressed concerns about prioritizing financial incentives over mission-driven work and culture.
