Willamette University Associate Professor Brandi Row Lazzarini BA’96 is pioneering the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into educational experiences. In her 2023 course “Generative AI and the Learning Experience,” she encourages students to develop critical thinking skills for responsible AI use. Lazzarini’s methodical approach begins with a deep understanding of AI’s role in learning, followed by an analytical essay where students thoughtfully incorporate AI tools to enhance their research rather than use shortcuts.
