MCP Successfully Concludes Negotiations on Social Security Agreement between BiH and Australia

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MCP BiH) has finalized negotiations on a groundbreaking social security agreement with Australia, addressing critical pension rights for individuals with work experience in both countries. After over a decade of collaboration with social insurance institutions, this agreement allows individuals to combine their pension contributions from Bosnia and Herzegovina with residence periods in Australia. This ensures that beneficiaries can access pensions even if they fall short of the requirements in either nation’s system. Dubravka Bošnjak, the Minister of Civil Affairs, highlighted the fairness this contract brings, acknowledging the work histories of individuals regardless of their locations. The agreement also addresses disability insurance and prevents dual contributions for temporary workers. Following expert approval, documentation has been sent for ratification, with the agreement expected to be signed in early 2026. It aims to streamline application processes and facilitate pension payments across borders.
