TBMs Gillian and Zelda are set to launch in June 2025 for the North East Link road and tunnel project in Melbourne, a pivotal A$11 billion initiative by the Spark consortium. This project, deemed Melbourne’s crucial transport link, will feature 6.5 km of three-lane twin tunnels connecting the M80 Ring Road to the Eastern Freeway, alleviating local road congestion by removing 15,000 trucks and bypassing 18 traffic lights by 2028.
To enhance project efficiency, Spark has partnered with UK technology firm nPlan, utilizing their advanced AI-driven Insights Pro platform, which leverages a vast dataset of over 750,000 project schedules globally. This partnership aims to address schedule uncertainties and mitigate risk as the project progresses. Notable contributors to Spark include WeBuild, GS Engineering, and CPB Contractors.
