Meta Allegedly Recruits Three Researchers from OpenAI

admin

Meta has recruited Lucas Beyer, Alexander Kolesnikov, and Xiaohua Zhai from OpenAI’s Zurich office to strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is actively seeking top-tier AI talent, even offering $100 million to researchers for roles in developing artificial general intelligence (AGI). Recently, Meta invested $14 billion in AI startup Scale, hiring its CEO Alexandr Wang to lead the new AI team. Despite Zuckerberg’s efforts, OpenAI leaders Ilya Sutskever and John Schulman have declined offers to join Meta, with OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman expressing little concern about these recruitment attempts. The competition for AI expertise is intensifying, with numerous leading firms like Google DeepMind, Microsoft, and Anthropic also vying for skilled professionals. As part of its strategy, Meta aims to enhance its Llama AI model, integrating advanced AI capabilities into various products, including Instagram and WhatsApp, and exploring AI agents for improved customer service and commerce.
