Meta Enhances Autonomous Agent Technology with Acquisition of AI Startup Manus

Meta Platforms has acquired Singapore-based AI startup Manus, enhancing its push into autonomous AI agents. The deal, with undisclosed financial terms, allows Meta to integrate Manus’s general-purpose AI technology into its products like Meta AI. Founded in March 2025, Manus achieved $100 million in annual recurring revenue within eight months and has processed over 147 trillion tokens, autonomously completing tasks ranging from market research to programming.

This acquisition positions Meta to compete against advanced AI companies like OpenAI and Google, leveraging Manus’s technology to serve billions of users globally. Manus, which follows a subscription model targeting small and medium-sized businesses, has shown impressive growth, consistently exceeding monthly revenue growth of 20%.

The integration of Manus’s capabilities into Meta’s services marks a strategic shift toward AI-driven solutions, aligning with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s focus on repositioning AI as a core business area. Regulatory scrutiny may follow due to data privacy concerns as the technology evolves.
