Meta Unveils a New Template-Based Generative AI Video Editing Tool

Meta has launched a new AI video editing feature that enables users to edit short-form videos with preset templates. This tool allows users to change backgrounds, add effects, and even alter clothing styles. Accessible for free for a limited time through the Meta AI app, Meta.AI website, and the Edits app, the feature is rolling out in select countries. It utilizes the Movie Gen AI model, previously hinted at by Instagram Head Adam Mosseri. Currently, users can choose from over 50 preset options, though text prompt capabilities will be introduced later this year. However, editing is restricted to the first 10 seconds of videos for now. While the rollout is in progress, the availability in countries like India remains unclear. Users with access can share their edited videos directly to Facebook and Instagram or through the Discover feed in the Meta AI app and website.
