Microsoft Copilot AI Now Integrates Seamlessly with Outlook, Gmail, and More for Direct Information Access

Microsoft has released an updated version of its AI assistant, Copilot, now directly connecting with OneDrive, Outlook, Google Drive, and Gmail. This opt-in feature allows users to utilize natural language prompts to summarize emails or documents. Users can easily grant access by navigating to settings and selecting “Connectors.” Additionally, Copilot can now create and export documents—including Word, Excel, PDFs, and PowerPoint—based solely on user prompts. For instance, users can generate a travel itinerary and instantly convert it into a shareable PowerPoint presentation. Currently, these features are available exclusively to members of Microsoft’s Copilot “Insider” program, with a gradual rollout. This upgrade aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to enhance its AI tools within core productivity applications, aiming to simplify workflows for users. As competition intensifies, Microsoft is also shifting away from its previous partnership with OpenAI, exploring collaborations with other AI companies like Anthropic.
