Microsoft Launches Free AI Video Generation in Bing App Powered by OpenAI’s Sora

admin

Microsoft has launched Bing Video Creator in its mobile app for iOS and Android, allowing users to create short video clips from text prompts using OpenAI’s Sora model. This is the first public release of Sora, previously exclusive to paying customers, as part of Microsoft’s ongoing partnership with OpenAI. Initially available only on mobile, the feature will soon expand to desktop and Copilot Search.

Users can create 5-second videos in a vertical 9:16 format, akin to Instagram and YouTube Shorts, with plans for horizontal 16:9 support. Each user starts with 10 free Fast video generations, after which they can unlock more through Microsoft Rewards points. Standard generations remain free but take longer.

Videos are stored for 90 days and must be downloaded before automatic deletion. Microsoft aims to democratize generative media tools with this initiative, similar to its previous introduction of AI-generated imagery, amid growing competition in the AI video space.
