Microsoft is enhancing its Office apps—Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint—by adding advanced AI features through its Microsoft 365 Copilot suite. Scheduled for early 2026, these enhancements will be available for free, eliminating the $30 monthly fee for the standard license. The recently introduced Copilot Chat will allow users to manage their entire Outlook inbox, reviewing calendar entries and meetings effortlessly. Additionally, Agent Mode will empower Word, Excel, and PowerPoint users to generate complex documents and spreadsheets with simple prompts. Users can choose between Anthropic and OpenAI reasoning models in Excel, while PowerPoint will facilitate creating and updating slides using custom business templates. Preview of these features is set for March 2026. Furthermore, Microsoft plans to launch Microsoft 365 Copilot Business next month at a reduced rate of $21 per month for small and midsize companies, enhancing accessibility to innovative AI-driven productivity tools.
