Microsoft is set to enhance its Office suite with AI features in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint starting early 2026, without requiring a premium Copilot license. This initiative aims to democratize access to AI tools for everyday Microsoft 365 users. Key enhancements include an upgraded Copilot Chat in Outlook, which will analyze entire inboxes and calendars to streamline workflows and prepare users for meetings. The new Agent Mode will also be available to all Microsoft 365 subscribers in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, allowing users to generate complex documents or spreadsheets from simple prompts. Excel will introduce options for Anthropic and OpenAI reasoning models for better data handling. Additionally, Microsoft plans to launch a more affordable business plan, Microsoft 365 Copilot Business, for small and midsize companies next month, priced at $21 per month, making AI tools more accessible and appealing for everyday tasks.
