Microsoft Set to Mandate Installation of Microsoft 365 Copilot App This October

Next month, Microsoft will roll out the Microsoft 365 Copilot app on Windows devices outside the European Economic Area (EEA) that run the Microsoft 365 desktop client. This AI-powered assistant enhances productivity within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft 365 applications. The installation process will begin in early October, concluding by mid-November. Admins are advised to inform users and helpdesk teams of the upcoming installation to minimize confusion and support requests. The app will be accessible from the Windows Start Menu and will be enabled by default, although IT administrators can opt out via the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center. Additionally, Microsoft plans future integrations, such as adding Copilot agents to the Edge sidebar. This update aims to simplify user access to AI capabilities, enhancing overall productivity within the Microsoft 365 suite.
