Midjourney Unveils V1 Model Transforming Still Images into Dynamic Videos

On June 18, 2025, Midjourney announced the launch of V1, a new AI tool that transforms images into short animated videos, available through a premium subscription. The V1 model allows users to upload their images or select ones generated by Midjourney, creating five-second videos effortlessly by clicking an “Animate” button. Users can customize video motion with settings for High motion, which includes movement from both the object and the camera, and Low motion, suitable for static scenes where objects move slowly. However, high motion may lead to artifacts in the video. Users can increase the video length up to 20 seconds. V1 competes with offerings from major AI players like Google and OpenAI, but it charges significantly more for video generation compared to images. Currently, it is available online and provides four five-second videos to help users find their preferred version.
