Midjourney’s Latest Video AI Competes with Sora and Runway in Expanding Market

admin

Midjourney has launched its first AI video generation model, V1, allowing users to create 5-second video clips from images. Available through Discord and the company’s website, V1 generates four video options per input and can extend clips to 20 seconds. The subscription starts at $10/month, significantly more than image generation, and it competes with services like OpenAI’s Sora and Runway. Users can animate images through automated or manual modes, adjusting motion intensity. However, the launch comes amid a copyright lawsuit from Disney and Universal, which alleges that Midjourney trained its models on copyrighted content, claiming this leads to widespread plagiarism. Looking ahead, Midjourney envisions expanding beyond video into creating real-time interactive simulations. While early feedback on V1 is positive, the model currently lacks audio capabilities, which may impact its competitiveness.
