AWS is proud to support the Model Context Protocol (MCP) as it transitions to the Linux Foundation, ensuring long-term sustainability and innovation in agentic architectures. With MCP’s open-source launch in 2024, significant developments have emerged, enhancing AI agents’ interaction with software and external systems. Key features include “Elicitations,” which allows AI agents to request additional user information seamlessly, and “Tasks,” which introduce asynchronous operations for fault tolerance. AWS has implemented numerous MCP servers and integrated them into its AI code assistants and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, boosting productivity. The recent MCP versions also feature structured tool output and new interaction paradigms for improved user experience. As we expand our MCP contributions, we invite more partners to collaborate in refining this essential protocol, fostering a richer ecosystem that revolutionizes software development and deployment.
