As a result, the Gemini app surged 45% in downloads, nearing 13 million in the App Store, overtaking ChatGPT. For the first time, Gemini achieved the top position in Apple’s AI apps category, marking significant growth from its previous rankings. In 2025, the app recorded nearly 104 million downloads and over 185 million across Android and iOS since its February 2024 debut. Despite Gemini’s success on the App Store, ChatGPT remains dominant in the Google Play AI apps category. Notably, Gemini garnered 23 million new users and created over 500 million images, showcasing its rapid adoption and popularity in the digital landscape.
