BENGALURU: Narayana Health has launched Aira, an AI-driven documentation tool integrated with its proprietary Electronic Medical Record (EMR) platform, Athma. This innovative solution aims to reduce paperwork and enhance patient outcomes in healthcare. Dr. Devi Shetty, founder and chairman, emphasized the global inadequacy of digital medical records, with 80% of hospitals lacking EMR, even in developed nations. He advocates for a unified digital backbone for healthcare, akin to mobile operating systems like iOS and Android, to facilitate effective application integration. Aira helps increase doctor productivity within India’s overburdened healthcare system by streamlining patient visits—potentially reducing them to one shorter appointment for tests and follow-ups, thereby doubling patient capacity. The tool also minimizes prescription errors, particularly for vulnerable patients. Narayana’s tech division, Athma, has successfully deployed its digital solutions across various healthcare settings in India and internationally, reinforcing its commitment to transformative healthcare technology.
