Nest Speakers with Gemini-Powered Assistant Now Featuring Fresh Voices

Share

Google’s Nest smart speakers are introducing three new voices for the Gemini-powered Google Assistant, enhancing user experience with more natural-sounding responses. The latest additions, named Yarrow, Croton, and Pilea, complement the prior seven plant-themed voices launched in December 2024, bringing the total to ten. These new voices, characterized by warmer and brighter tones, sound less robotic compared to the previous generation.

The Gemini-backed Google Assistant is still in experimental status, currently available only in the US and limited to English speakers. To activate these features, users must join the public preview via the Google Home app, enabling “Experimental AI features.” The improved voices provide diverse, contextual responses for more intuitive interactions.

Given that this is an ongoing experiment, availability may vary. Users should take note of their region and language settings when trying to access these updates.
