NetApp has expanded its enterprise data infrastructure portfolio with two key offerings for large-scale AI workloads: the NetApp AFX storage system and the NetApp AI Data Engine (AIDE). The AFX system utilizes a disaggregated version of ONTAP software, ensuring scalable performance for AI applications in on-premises and hybrid/multicloud settings. AIDE integrates with NVIDIA’s AI Data Platform to streamline the AI pipeline, featuring automated synchronization and built-in data guardrails for governance and security. These solutions enable enterprises to efficiently manage large volumes of unstructured data, enhance retrieval for generative AI applications, and maintain robust data governance. Additionally, the new Object API for Azure NetApp Files allows direct Azure data accessibility, while enhanced FlexCache capabilities enrich Azure’s Global Namespace, facilitating unified data management across various environments. These advancements highlight NetApp’s commitment to providing scalable, AI-optimized infrastructure, aligning with current industry trends. Updates were announced ahead of the INSIGHT 2025 conference in Las Vegas.
