WhatsApp has launched a new AI-powered feature called “Writing Help” for its iOS app, offering users various message-suggestion options. These include Rephrase for clarity, Professional for formal tone, Funny for humor, Supportive for uplifting messages, and Proofread for spelling and grammar corrections. Users can choose to implement AI-generated suggestions without notifying message recipients. This feature, powered by Meta’s Private Processing technology, emphasizes user privacy by not scanning conversation histories. Currently available in English in the U.S. and select countries, WhatsApp plans to expand its language support by year-end. While Apple’s iPhone 16 also has writing tools, they lag behind competitors like Samsung Galaxy’s AI and Google’s Gemini. The Writing Help feature is optional and turned off by default, appealing to users seeking better communication tools while maintaining privacy.
