The UK Government has announced a ban on ‘nudification’ apps as part of its efforts to combat violence against women and girls. Technology Secretary Liz Kendall emphasized the need to protect women and girls from online abuse, stating that the technology should not be weaponized to exploit them. She warned that individuals profiting from or supporting these apps will face severe legal consequences. Kerry Smith, Chief Executive of The Internet Watch Foundation, praised the measures, highlighting that such apps endanger children and have no legitimate purpose. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to ensure safer online environments and safeguard against emerging digital threats.
