The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has initiated a solicitation to establish a National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource Operations Center (NAIRR-OC). This move transitions the National AI Research Resource (NAIRR) from a pilot program to a sustainable national initiative. Set to launch in 2024 through a public-private partnership, the NAIRR Pilot aims to enhance access to essential AI tools, fostering innovation and training future researchers. Supported by 14 federal agencies and 28 partners, the pilot has already engaged over 400 research teams across various fields, such as agriculture and cybersecurity. NAIRR-OC will develop a strategic framework to expand operational capabilities and provide a centralized platform for accessing AI resources. This initiative aligns with the White House’s AI Action Plan, promoting collaborative efforts to build a robust national AI research community. For more details, visit the NAIRR-OC information page.
