A 2019 study indicated that 44% of parents with kids aged 2-8 use smart speakers daily for various activities, and that number has likely increased. As AI technology becomes more pervasive, concerns about its impact on genuine parent-child interactions arise. Companies are now infusing personality into AI voices, making them sound friendlier. The challenge for parents is to foster tech-savvy kids who understand the difference between human conversations and AI responses. My son’s “Hey Google” signifies the need for balance in a world where technology and parenting intersect seamlessly.
