NUS Launches AI Research Center to Advance Legal LLM and Public Health Innovations – Government

The National University of Singapore (NUS) is launching a new Applied Artificial Intelligence Research and Innovation Centre, aiming to enhance talent development and accelerate AI implementation in various sectors, including education, law, and public health. This initiative, in partnership with Google, focuses on applied research to support Singapore’s digital transformation goals.

Key projects include developing AI tools for adult learning, creating a large language model (LLM) for legal applications, and integrating multimodal data for public health interventions. The centre will utilize a cloud-based sandbox for rapid AI prototyping, ensuring scalable solutions. Additionally, NUS plans to roll out targeted training programs to strengthen AI talent pipelines and appoint a new AI professorship for long-term research excellence. This collaboration underscores the synergy between NUS’s AI leadership and Google’s advanced technologies, fostering innovative solutions across multiple domains.
