Nvidia Injects $100 Billion into OpenAI to Enhance Computing Capabilities

Nvidia has announced a groundbreaking partnership with OpenAI, committing to invest $100 billion (€85 billion) to enhance AI infrastructure. This collaboration will add at least 10 gigawatts of data center capacity dedicated to improving the computing power behind the ChatGPT chatbot. The first gigawatt is set to launch in the latter half of 2026. Both companies aim to finalize the partnership details shortly, as they continue to work closely with major players like Microsoft and Oracle.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman emphasized that this infrastructure is crucial for advancing AI capabilities and delivering user services effectively. Meanwhile, concerns about OpenAI’s governance and safety measures are growing, especially following a lawsuit from Elon Musk regarding control over its nonprofit mission. Additionally, California and Delaware attorneys general have expressed serious concerns about the safety of ChatGPT, particularly for younger users. OpenAI currently claims 700 million weekly active users.
