Okta CEO: AI Security and Identity Security Are Two Sides of the Same Coin

At the recent Oktane conference in Las Vegas, Okta emphasized its commitment to securing non-human identities (NHIs) amidst the rapid rise of AI agents. Announcing new features for its Okta and Auth0 platforms, Okta aims to seamlessly integrate AI agents into its identity security framework. A study revealed that while 91% of organizations are adopting AI, only 10% are implementing cyber governance, increasing associated risks significantly. Okta CEO Todd McKinnon warned that AI agents can act autonomously, presenting potential insider threats. The newly launched Okta for AI Agents includes tools for agent discovery, centralized access management, and automated governance, enhancing overall security. Key features like Cross App Access (XAA) extend OAuth for secure interactions, providing enterprises with real-time visibility and policy-driven security. Additionally, Okta introduced Verifiable Digital Credentials (VDC) to combat AI-driven fraud during onboarding. These innovations position Okta at the forefront of identity security in an AI-centric landscape.
