OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has seen a significant revenue surge, reaching an annualized $12 billion in the first seven months of the year, according to a report by the Information. This translates to approximately $1 billion in monthly revenue, driven by around 700 million weekly active users across its ChatGPT products for both consumers and businesses. The Microsoft-supported company has also adjusted its cash burn forecast for 2025 to $8 billion, up by $1 billion from earlier projections. OpenAI is currently engaging investors for a second $30 billion funding round, with major contributions from Sequoia Capital and Tiger Global Management. Additionally, Japan’s SoftBank is poised to finalize commitments totaling $7.5 billion, bringing its total investment in OpenAI to $32 billion since its initial backing in Autumn 2024.
