OpenAI and Google Set New Daily Limits for Sora and Nano Banana AI Tools Amid Increasing Demand | Technology News

Google’s Nano Banana Pro and OpenAI’s Sora video generator have introduced daily limits on AI-generated content due to overwhelming demand. OpenAI restricts free users to six videos per day on the Sora app, while ChatGPT Plus and Pro subscribers remain unaffected. According to Bill Peebles, head of Sora, these limits aim to ensure broad access as their GPUs are under significant strain. In a light-hearted remark, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman clarified that concerns about “melting GPUs” were exaggerated, as GPUs can run hot but do not actually melt. Meanwhile, Nano Banana Pro users without subscriptions can now generate only two images daily using the Gemini 3 Pro tool, whereas previous versions allowed up to 100 images. The implementation of these usage caps coincides with a holiday weekend in the U.S., highlighting the computational resources required for AI content generation, emphasizing the importance of energy-efficient practices in AI technology.
