Since ChatGPT’s launch in late 2022, users have noticed distinct characteristics that differentiate AI-generated content from human writing, notably the overuse of em dashes. Initially, the AI was unable to fully comply with user requests to avoid these dashes, but OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, recently announced improvements. Users can now instruct ChatGPT not to use em dashes, and the AI confirmed its adherence to this request. However, some users reported continued issues with em dashes and highlighted other challenges like misinformation, such as incorrectly identifying Joe Biden as President.
Additionally, OpenAI is introducing Group Chats to ChatGPT, allowing users to collaborate in a social format, similar to WhatsApp Groups. This feature is currently in pilot testing in select markets. OpenAI has also ventured into new territory by launching the Sora app for AI-generated videos and Atlas, an AI browser aimed at competing with major browsers.
