OpenAI Employee Preparing to Join Meta Denies Claims of a ‘Fake $100 Million Signing Bonus’ | Technology News

admin

Meta is actively recruiting AI researchers to its superintelligence lab, allegedly offering signing bonuses that could total $100 million. However, Lucas Beyer, an incoming Meta employee from OpenAI, has labeled this figure “fake news,” clarifying that he and fellow researchers Alexander Kolesnikov and Xiaohua Zhai will not receive such bonuses. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman highlighted Meta’s aggressive poaching strategy in a recent podcast, claiming that his team has largely remained intact despite these offers. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth countered Altman’s assertions, stating that such offers are not standard for all positions and emphasized the competitive landscape in AI hiring. Additionally, Meta’s CPO Chris Cox expressed that the company aims to differentiate its AI projects by focusing on entertainment and social interactions rather than creating traditional chatbot applications. Despite challenges in competing with Google and OpenAI, Meta continues to expand its AI capabilities and talent pool.
