OpenAI has introduced a new ChatGPT Pro tier specifically for Codex users, priced at $100 per month in the U.S. and Rs 10,699 in India, nearly half the cost of the previous Pro plan. This new tier offers five times the Codex usage limits compared to the ChatGPT Plus plan, which is available for $20 per month in the U.S. and Rs 1,999 in India. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced this upgrade on X, highlighting the demand for Codex, which currently has 3 million active users. The new Pro tier provides all the benefits of the higher-priced plan but focuses on users needing extended Codex sessions. As part of this rollout, OpenAI has also adjusted usage limits for existing Plus subscribers. The push towards Codex comes as OpenAI competes with Anthropic, which has recently outperformed OpenAI in revenue. The company continues to streamline its offerings to enhance profitability and service quality.
