ChatGPT Plus subscribers can now enjoy the new Record Mode feature on macOS. This innovative recording function, activated via a ‘record’ button in the desktop app, allows users to capture both system and microphone audio during calls or meetings. After recording, OpenAI’s servers process the audio, creating timestamped references, action items, and summaries for easy reference. Users must grant permission for system audio and mic access, ensuring compliance with local laws and obtaining necessary consent.
Note that sessions are capped at 2 hours, after which the audio is deleted. The generated transcripts can be integrated into new chats, but users have the option to disable this feature. It’s important to note that Edu, Enterprise, and Team workspaces are excluded from this functionality by default. Currently exclusive to macOS, Record Mode may potentially expand to mobile and Windows in the future, enhancing productivity for users across platforms.
