OpenAI is developing an AI-powered hiring platform called the OpenAI Jobs Platform, set to launch by mid-2026. This initiative aims to connect businesses with potential employees, positioning OpenAI in direct competition with LinkedIn, which is backed by Microsoft. OpenAI CEO of Applications, Fidji Simo, highlighted that the platform will specifically cater to small businesses and local governments seeking AI talent. Additionally, OpenAI plans to offer certifications through its OpenAI Academy, with a pilot for these certifications anticipated in late 2025. This effort supports the White House’s initiative to enhance AI literacy. The company is also partnering with Walmart to certify 10 million Americans by 2030. While there’s concern about AI disrupting traditional jobs, OpenAI believes it can help by fostering AI fluency among workers. This strategic move expands OpenAI’s focus beyond its flagship product, ChatGPT, potentially introducing new offerings like a browser and a social media app.
