OpenAI has enhanced ChatGPT, transforming it into a versatile tool beyond a traditional AI chatbot. Starting October 6, 2025, users can interact with popular services like Spotify, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, and Zillow directly within their chats. These “mini apps” allow users to request specific actions, such as creating playlists or designing posters, seamlessly integrating into conversations. Available to logged-in users outside the EU across all plans, the feature requires no downloads or tab-switching. Simply mention the app’s name to initiate its functionality, and ChatGPT will facilitate the interaction. New users must connect their app the first time, ensuring clarity on shared data. Additionally, ChatGPT can suggest relevant apps based on conversation context, enriching user experience. OpenAI has also unveiled an Apps SDK for developers, enabling them to create integrated apps within ChatGPT, leveraging the Model Context Protocol for streamlined development. This integration signifies a major shift in how users engage with AI.
