OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank Join Forces to Develop Five Innovative AI Data Centers

OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank have announced plans to construct five new artificial intelligence data centers across the United States, part of the $500 billion Stargate project initiated by former President Donald Trump. This private sector initiative aims to bolster AI infrastructure, with significant investments from leading tech companies. OpenAI, known for ChatGPT, will collaborate with Oracle on facilities in Texas, New Mexico, and the Midwest, while SoftBank contributes to additional sites in Ohio and Texas. The project will expand data center capacity to nearly 7 gigawatts, aiming to reach 10 gigawatts, and is expected to create 25,000 jobs. Industry giants like Nvidia are also heavily investing, with plans to supply chips for these new facilities. OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, emphasized the necessity of robust computing power to fulfill AI’s potential. This venture underscores the critical role of AI across various sectors, particularly in countering global competition.
