OpenAI has acquired Software Applications, Inc., creators of Sky, an AI-powered natural language interface for Mac. This upcoming product aims to assist users in writing, planning, coding, and more, enhancing everyday computing. Ari Weinstein, Co-Founder and CEO of Software Applications, emphasized the goal of creating a customizable, intuitive experience that integrates seamlessly with users’ workflows. Nick Turley, VP of ChatGPT, highlighted Sky’s potential to change how ChatGPT aids productivity. The acquisition, supported by OpenAI’s board, follows significant investments, including $6.5 million from prominent investors. Notably, the co-founders of Software Applications previously established Workflow, now part of Apple’s Shortcuts technology. OpenAI also rolled out GPT Atlas, an AI-enhanced browser initially available on MacOS, enabling users to interact with ChatGPT for tasks and summaries. With these innovations, OpenAI continues to embed AI deeply into consumer technology, enhancing user experiences across devices.
