However, Zuckerberg declined to participate, according to Reuters. Musk, a co-founder of OpenAI, left in 2018 over disagreements regarding the organization’s direction. OpenAI is suing Musk, alleging he attempted to undermine the company with a “sham bid.” The conflict escalated after Musk accused OpenAI of straying from its original mission to develop beneficial AI. OpenAI has requested the court to compel Meta to produce communications related to Musk’s bid, arguing it could clarify his motivations, but Meta contends this information is irrelevant. Musk’s lawsuit, initiated in February 2024, claims OpenAI’s for-profit shift strays from its foundational goals.
