OpenAI Secures $200M AI Pilot Contract with Defense Department

OpenAI’s recent blog post about this deal promotes its initiative “OpenAI for Government” but notably avoids mentioning warfighting directly, in line with its usage policies that prohibit the development of weapons technology. The agreement comes shortly after key OpenAI executives joined the US Army Reserve, as part of efforts to integrate AI into military operations. Additionally, OpenAI has previously collaborated with companies like Anduril for military projects, raising eyebrows about the potential implications of AI in defense contexts.
