Bellevue-based Statsig, a platform specializing in data-driven product development, has announced its acquisition by OpenAI in an all-stock deal valued at $1.1 billion. Founder and CEO Vijaye Raji emphasized the alignment of their mission with OpenAI’s vision to enhance product development. Upon the deal’s completion, Raji will serve as OpenAI’s Chief Technology Officer for applications, managing product engineering for ChatGPT and Codex. OpenAI CEO Fidji Simo praised Raji’s impressive track record in creating consumer and B2B products at scale. The acquisition follows Statsig’s recent $100 million Series C funding, reflecting its growth since its founding in 2021. OpenAI aims to leverage Statsig’s robust platform, which includes features like product experimentation and analytics, to accelerate development and improve user experiences. The deal will integrate Statsig employees into OpenAI while maintaining its operational independence from its Bellevue office. Major clients like Microsoft and Electronic Arts utilize Statsig to enhance product insights and growth.
