OpenAI has reorganized its leadership, appointing Barret Zoph to spearhead its enterprise AI sales strategy as the company aims to enhance its market position by 2026. Zoph, who recently rejoined OpenAI after co-founding Thinking Machine Labs, previously served as the VP of post-training inference. His leadership comes at a crucial time when OpenAI’s enterprise market share has declined from 50% in 2023 to 27% by the end of 2025, trailing competitors like Anthropic and Google.
Despite launching the ChatGPT Enterprise product in 2023, which has attracted over 5 million users, OpenAI’s market presence is diminishing. Anthropic currently holds a 40% market share, while Google’s Gemini grows steadily. OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman has voiced concerns regarding increasing competition. To revitalize growth, OpenAI is focusing on partnerships, including a recent multi-year agreement with ServiceNow to integrate its AI models for enhanced business solutions.
