OpenAI Sets Its Sights on Competing with Microsoft 365 Copilot • The Register

OpenAI is challenging Microsoft 365 Copilot with its new “company knowledge” feature for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, and Edu tiers, integrating organizational data from apps like Slack, SharePoint, and Google Drive. Users must authenticate each connector, ensuring that ChatGPT, powered by GPT-5, accesses only authorized data, which is encrypted and not used for training. However, OneDrive integration is missing, which may hinder some organizations. Administrators can review conversation logs via the Enterprise Compliance API for reporting purposes. Despite the potential, OpenAI’s feature lacks the seamless integration of Microsoft’s offering and must be manually selected for use. Additionally, when not toggled to “company knowledge,” ChatGPT can still utilize connectors but with less depth in responses. Priced at $25 per user monthly, ChatGPT presents a competitive alternative to Microsoft 365 Copilot’s $30 fee, especially appealing to enterprises considering AI solutions.
