OpenAI has swiftly discontinued its “Share & Index” feature for ChatGPT, which allowed users to make their conversations searchable on platforms like Google. The feature, introduced earlier this year, was intended for users to share interesting AI-generated chats but proved easy to misuse, with many users unknowingly enabling indexing. Despite efforts to anonymize content, identifiable details were exposed, and even deleted chats remained in Google’s cached search results.
