OpenAI to Introduce Ads in ChatGPT Amid IPO Aspirations

On “FOX Business In Depth,” I/O Fund tech analyst Beth Kindig and Spear Invest’s Ivana Delevska discussed their A.I. ‘winners.’ OpenAI recently announced it will begin testing ads in ChatGPT for free and lower-tier users in the U.S., aiming to boost revenue ahead of an anticipated IPO. Ads, clearly labeled and separate from responses, will appear at the end of relevant answers. Notably, users under 18 and sensitive topics will be ad-free, ensuring user privacy with no data sales to advertisers. OpenAI emphasizes its commitment to user trust by offering an ad-free paid tier and plans to rely on subscriber revenue, although ads could significantly boost income given ChatGPT’s 800 million weekly active users. Analysts suggest this move might prompt competitors to clarify their monetization strategies, as OpenAI seeks to diversify its revenue model to enhance accessibility in artificial intelligence.
