Norway, renowned for its affordable hydroelectric power and conducive climate, was strategically chosen for its low connectivity and isolation, ensuring sustainable energy provision. OpenAI’s joint venture with Nscale Global Holdings and Aker ASA aims to establish an AI gigafactory that will utilize 100% renewable energy, positioning Norway as a burgeoning data center hub. The country anticipates a $2.15 billion investment in data centers this year amidst evolving EU infrastructure efforts to meet AI demands and balance energy regulation.
