Though OpenAI emphasizes that ChatGPT Health is not for diagnosis or treatment, it acknowledges significant user engagement, reporting 230 million health inquiries per week. Mental health support remains a delicate topic; OpenAI aims to direct users towards professionals for sensitive situations. Privacy is prioritized, with enhanced encryption and a separate space for health conversations. However, there’s no HIPAA compliance for consumer use, highlighting ongoing legal and ethical concerns. As the product rolls out, a waitlist is in place for access.
