OpenAI Unveils LinkedIn Rival, Harnessing AI to Match You with Your Ideal Job

OpenAI is set to launch the OpenAI Jobs Platform by mid-2026, aimed at connecting employers with suitable candidates using advanced AI technologies. Announced by CEO of Applications, Fidji Simo, the platform seeks to facilitate optimal matches between job requirements and candidate skills. Notably, it will cater to small businesses and local government entities seeking AI talent, positioning OpenAI in direct competition with LinkedIn, which has long ruled the professional networking domain. LinkedIn’s co-founder, Reid Hoffman, was an early supporter of OpenAI, heightening intrigue around the rivalry, particularly given Microsoft’s ownership of LinkedIn and its role as OpenAI’s primary investor. Beyond the jobs platform, OpenAI is expanding its repertoire with initiatives like the OpenAI Academy, aimed at enhancing AI skills among workers, with a goal to certify 10 million Americans by 2030. These initiatives are part of OpenAI’s contributions to the White House’s AI literacy program amidst growing concerns about AI’s impact on employment.
